Why is sensitivity such a problem?
Sensitivity is related to the feeling parts of ourselves and is inherent in us all. All forms of unfoldment, whether spiritual, intuitive, psychic or mediumistic, will have an effect on our inherent sensitivity. As we develop and our sensitivity begins to expand, we may come up against all kinds of obstacles, such as self-doubt, negativity, uncertainty, mood swings and so on. This may also create a sense of mistrust, both of ourselves and others. This happens because our unfoldment and sensitivity are starting to bring about numerous subtle and noticeable changes that relate to various levels of ourselves.
We need to observe this process as it starts bringing about various changes and see how these changes are effecting us. We will need to probe and ask ourselves what we can learn from these changes, as well as accept any feelings that may surface. Caution needs to be taken not to battle with ourselves, but accept ourselves as we are and realise that we are starting to open up more to life in all its dimensions.
Unfoldment is rather like travelling to different countries. We may feel fairly safe staying where we are, but going somewhere new can create all kinds of unforeseen problems. But do we want to remain safe and stay in one place all the time? Of course not! No one really achieves anything in life without being adventurous occasionally.
Through self-exploration we discover changes that need to be brought about starting to make themselves known. This happens through an increased awareness of what is unfolding in our development, both positive and negative.
By accepting our feelings, particularly negative ones, we let them in and own them, without trying to justify or be defensive about them. Unless we increase our level of awareness and embrace our feelings, we will not be able to respond creatively to what needs looking at or understanding within ourselves. Sensitivity is really only a problem if we allow it to get out of hand. This is why some self-discipline and personal responsibility are important in unfoldment. By being practical and using sensitivity in a skilful way, we can manifest all kinds of positive qualities and potential, such as compassion, kindness and understanding. Sensitivity is therefore an important and essential part of all kinds of unfoldment. Being a more feeling person opens gateways to the spirit. It leads to opening the heart, being at one with ourselves, all people and all things and discovering the true spiritual centre of our being.

How do we know we are developing in the way that the spirit wants us to?
We cannot always be certain that we will know. In my experience I have noticed that development often moves forward in phases. Each one bringing a new expression, experience and activity. This is why it is important not to have definite ideas or opinions about how our unfoldment should proceed or what the final outcome will be. We may have general aims, but we must be flexible enough to be able to change our main focus if wider possibilities start presenting themselves to us.
I do not think we should have set views about the end product as we are continually growing and having new experiences that can affect the direction of our lives. This is why we need to keep sitting, meditating and reflecting upon our unfoldment and allow ourselves to blend with the power of the spirit within and the Divinity of all life. By doing so, any possible potential will be allowed to surface, be cultivated and allowed to express itself in and through us and lead us on to richer fields of being and consciousness.
